US Official Reiterates Arrest of Hague Indictees Will Help Bosnia2006-08-03BBC Monitoring EuropeanExcerpt from report by Bosnian Serb news agency SRNA Sarajevo, 2 August: The US ambassador for war crimes issue, [John] Clint Williamson, congratulated Bosnia-Hercegovina on being committed to arresting all the war crimes indictees and bringing them to justice, i.e. before the Bosnia-Hercegovina Court War Crimes Department, the US embassy in Sarajevo press office stated today. The statement added that the aim of Williamson's visit to Sarajevo and Banja Luka, as well as to Belgrade and Zagreb, was to discuss the remaining fugitives from the International Criminal Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia, especially [former Bosnian Serb leaders] Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic. Williamson appealed to the governments to work on strengthening the capacity for processing war crimes locally and on securing a more efficient regional cooperation. "During the meeting with [Bosnian] Serb Republic representatives, Ambassador Williamson asked the Serb Republic government to fulfil its obligation of full cooperation with the Hague tribunal, which is a precondition for the progress of Bosnia-Hercegovina on its way towards NATO and the EU integration," the statement said.
